Welcome to the homepage of the summer school Brain & Evolution 2018!
The Brain & Evolution 2018 summer school is part of the Brain & Evolution summer schools series aimed to teach young neuroscientist in their early career about various subjects of comparative neuroscience and brain evolution. Furthermore, the Brain & Evolution summer school is meant to foster international cooperation among comparative neuroscientists already at an early level.
This year, the summer school Brain & Evolution is held at Hokkaido University (Sapporo, Japan) and is organized by scientists of the Ruhr-University Bochum (Germany) and Hokkaido University. Beside talks of leading experts in the field of comparative neuroscience, the summer school offers the opportunity for the participants to present their research projects and discuss them with researchers having decades of experience. Furthermore, the summer school provides practical lab sessions, in which participants can learn state of the art techniques as well as lectures providing information on German-Japanese collaboration opportunities. Another core aspect of the summer school is to train participants in developing their own research ideas, plan their own experiments and to apply successfully for research funding, all aspects which are normally not trained during university education.
Attendance is free, but participants need to apply, since the number of participants is limited. Travel funding is also available. For further information, check out the links on the left side.
Looking forward to see you in Sapporo this September!
